    Dr Sonal Nirwal is an applied mathematician specialising in wave propagation in complex and smart composite materials, with expertise in computational mechanics, electro-elasto-dynamics, and mathematical modelling. Her research explores wave behaviour in piezoelectric and multiferroic structures, integrating advanced concepts like functional grading and flexoelectricity.

    She earned her PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore.

    1.  have been appointed as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) of Taiwan’s project titled, “Pavement Fatigue and Rutting Life Design of Layered Flexible Pavement via Advanced MultiSmart3D” (Grant No. NSTC 111-2811-E-516 A49-534).

    2. I was appointed as a DST Project Fellow, initially as a Junior Research Fellow for the first two years and then as a Senior Research Fellow for the third year, to contribute to the DST-SERB sponsored 3-year project titled “Study of Surface Wave Propagation in Elastic Solids Involving Piezoelectric Materials” (Project No. YSS/2015/002057). My tenure was marked by active participation and significant accomplishments, including publishing variousresearch papers in esteemed SCI/SCIE journals.
